Once again, for the third year, we had  a great group of bloggers for the conference in Maria, Maru, Mike, Isabel (transmitting from Miami - we missed you Isabel), and Guy. Thanks to all for all they did in Atlanta with their superior bi-focal vision - one eye on the proceedings and one eye on bringing you the latest of what was happening at the conference.

Also, a special thanks goes to Judi Gaitens, a Chapter Coordinator from North Carolina, for her willingness to undergo (?) my video interviews and thereby contribute to the blog - you're a natural Judi-thanks.

The Circle of Service is Contemplative Outreach's new approach of "contemplative governance" that was piloted during 2008-2010. At the conference on Sunday morning Ron Barnett presented on behalf of the Circle of Service a description of this approach in contrast to a "corporate" approach, its historical development and the results of the voting members recent adoption of it. Everyone knows that RHB really stands for Resource Hand Book, but poof its gone!  From now on all Coordinators and Contact persons will be able to access the RHB on line by entering their username and password.  Within the PDF copy of the RHB there will be current links to just about every other document you will ever need.  Go to the website “Arts and Resources” tab and then hit “Leadership Resources” from  the menu on the left and you will find everything there.  All of the links that are within the RHB are also nicely collated on this page so that you can go straight to just what you need.  Facilitators, Presenters and others will be allowed specific access to fined the documents that they need from this page also.  Now you can dig into the website to get the pages you want for your team, right click and paste them right into an email and zip off they go, just to the people that need them.  Now if you really enjoyed that old heavy Clunker in printed form you can have Kinko’s print it out and punch the holes for about $5.00 in black and white, but it will be out dated the day you print it, because the team that has so tirelessly put this together plans to continue to keep updating all these files regularly.  And we used to pay for this paper nightmare privilege?

Por las limitaciones de tiempo es imposible compartir todos los recursos y programas disponibles para los “capítulos locales.” CO tendrá una reunión para profundizar el tema y compartir como implementarlos.

Hay muchas oportunidades para aquellos que quieren servir. Hay personal especializado que puede venir a compartir recursos a las areas locales formando una relación de inter-dependencia y synergía en servicio contemplativo.

Al madurar, llegamos al reconocimento  de que lo que podemos hacer en nuestras áreas locales es posible, por todo el apoyo que hemos recibido  a través de Contemplative Outreach ( o Extensión Contemplativa Internacional). Susan extendió una invitación a enviar una porción de lo que las áreas locales han cosechado financieramente con la organización para que podamos seguir sirviéndo y desarrollándo materiales para las generaciones presentes y por venir.

Un invitado que coordina en Charlotte, NC. compartió algo de su experiencia en servicio. Es solo porque CO ha provisto tantos recursos tanto humanos como en materiales y formación, que ellos han podido prestar su servicio. El dijo: “Sin ese contexto, esa rica base de apoyo y “nutrición” nuestro proceso de transformación no se habría dado.”

Podríamos decir lo mismo con ECI. Sin la labor incansable de aquellas personas que han colaborado y servido sin remuneración, muchas veces sin reconocimiento, en silencio y resguardo; aquellos que son más visibles en servicio no podríamos haber hecho la labor que hemos hecho sin esos recursos. Por mencionar algunos: Traducciones, compilación de materiales, administración, talleres, retiros, etc. Aquellos de los que hablo, muchas veces han sido la fuente de recursos económicos que han capitalizado su desarrollo y distribución o no hubiera ocurrido. La invitación para todos nosotros y aquellos que se han beneficiado por el sacrificio de ellos en el pasado, es ahora a que “crezcamos” y tomemos consciencia de esta relación de interdependencia. Y preguntarnos a nosotros mismos si ya ha llegado la hora de “reciprocar” y tomar nuestro lugar contribuyendo no solo en oración y servicio sino también compartiendo de lo que cosechamos económicamente con el organismo que nos ha dado tanto espiritualmente.

Como encargada de la Facultad de Recursos  (Resource Faculty) presentó a su equipo: de la derecha a la izquierda en la foto de la facultad- Anne Mazza, Mike Potter, Roseanne Havird and Tom Ward, Mary Dwyer, Theresa Saulnier y Cherry Haisten.
Por un año se suspendieron los retiros de formación ya que han estado revisando el formato de introducción a la Oración Centrante en Contemplative Outreach. (Extensión Contemplativa Internacional comunicará los cambios y resultados de ésta exploración y estaremos en proceso de adaptación a nuestras propias culturas.)

Procedió a compartir unos documentos que ayudan a comunicar el proceso de discernimiento a entrar en servicio con CO y compartir la OC. Y los Criterios usados como requisitos para entrar en formación para ser un presentador. Toma tiempo realmente absorber e integrar la práctica y los antecedentes conceptuales y profundizarla a traves de nuestros retiros antes de poder estar suficientemente enraizado y enlazado con la comunidad de servicio contemplativo. Adicionalmente, es necesario recibir la recomendación de aquellos que ya están en servicio y formación sobre la localidad, ya que necesitaran ser apoyados en su servicio y compaginar con la comunidad et al. Resumió el proceso de ser aprobados a ser presentadores reconocidos por CO. Extensión Contemplativa tiene procesos y guias similares adaptadas a las realidades de nuestras culturas y acordadas por el Consejo Asesor de ECI.

Después habló de los “Esenciales Refinados” para resumir: el corazón del dia de introducción son las conferencias 2 y 3. Las otras 2 conferencias (1 y 4) son apoyo a ese corazón pero hay la opción de simplificarlas y exponer esos temas con más amplitud en el seguimiento. Están por compartir un nuevo formato opcional que será enviado a los presentadores comisionados de Contemplative Outreach. Y se deja a la discreción de los presentadores que tanto material integrar en el dia de introducción. ECI tendrá su propio proceso de discernir e incorporar éstos refinamientos.

Ofrecemos una traducción de la cita anónima empleada por el Padre Carl Arico en su conferencia de anoche:

“Qué es la vida misma? Es la consciencia y el disfrute de lo “necesario”, reconociendo y elevando lo “esencial.” Nuestra época hace del vivir una búsqueda de esto o aquello, pero la vida misma no es un sustantivo, una cifra. Es un verbo, una postura activa, un acto viviente. Nuestra cultura tiende a hacer un fin de las necesidades, cuando éstas  deberían ser un medio de expresar la gracia y la belleza inherentes a la vida misma. No se trata de qué clase de casa tenemos, sino de cómo vivimos dentro de sus paredes. No se trata de qué pisos tenemos, sino de cómo caminamos o jugamos en ellos. No se trata de las obras de arte en las paredes, sino de la creatividad con la que  adornamos nuestro espacio.
